Activities in the Cairngorms

Rothiemurchus Lodge is ideally located as a hub for all forms of outdoor activities, including mountain biking, hill walking, climbing and water sports, plus in the winter season skiing and snowboarding at the Cairngorm Ski Centre. If you are joining us with an organised group your daily activities will be arranged for you. As a family take a look at the discounts page to give you an idea of some of the activities that can be paid for in Aviemore and surrounding area.

Before you set out on any adventure activity, It is important that you bring the necessary safety equipment with you. The weather in the Cairngorms can change quickly.

canoeing

Loch Morlich offers a great space for water sports including canoeing. The loch has beautiful sandy beaches and a forest walk of approx 6 km around the shore.

Mountain Biking

There are a huge amount of forest tracks in the area of the lodge, offering treks for every level of cyclist. More information here.

Skiing

Rothiemurchus Lodge is ideally situated for you to get the best from the skiing in the Cairngorms. Weather, availability and prices can be found on the Cairngorm Mountain site

Hill Walking

The Cairngorms are beautiful to walk in. There are many signed routes in the area;  the lodge manager will always be able to give you advice, but make sure before you set out on any hike that you have the proper equipment with you.

Wind Surfing

The loch also provides a fantastic venue for wind surfing. Other water sports including canyon treking and white water rafting can be found from other commerical outlets including G2 Outdoor

Rock Climbing

There are many locations to climb; here are a few, all within 30min of the lodge. There are also a number of climbing walls in the general area including walls at Aviemore and Coylumbridge. You can find details here.
