Spreading the word

George and Andy manned the Rothiemurchus Lodge stand at the recent pre-Edinburgh Tattoo families' get-together at Redford Infantry Barracks. The event brought various agencies and charities together, enabling military families and friends to get an idea of the support that is available to them while still serving or when they have left.

We were able to highlight to the wider military community the facilities available at the lodge at a price that can not be matched by any similar offerings in the Aviemore area. We are hoping that all the attendees at the event will join us at the lodge sooner or later.

Moving on....

Sgt M Williams-Thomas said farewell and relinquished his duties on the Rothiemurchus lodge committee, as he moves onto a new post. He will be greatly missed by all. Not only was he heavily involved with the Rothiemurchus lodge committee, he was a driving force behind the yearly Rothiemurchus Challenge, an event that takes place in the autumn.  We all hope Merv well in his new position.

As a parting gift Merv presented George, the lodge manager with a glass Rothiemurchus Challenge trophy. We look forward to Sgt R Gorman taking over on the committee as the Royal Navy repersentive.

Lodge access track

Starting around the second week of November, the Forestry Commission will start to harvest and manage the forestry around the track leading up to the lodge. This work will continue for a number of months and visitors are to be aware that there will be an increase in traffic on the track, including heavy goods vehicles.

Extra care should be taken when navigating your way up to the lodge; look out for an increase of road/track users in vehicles or on foot.

As winter draws in, please also pay attention to the changing conditions and take the appropriate precautions.
