Spreading the word

George and Andy manned the Rothiemurchus Lodge stand at the recent pre-Edinburgh Tattoo families' get-together at Redford Infantry Barracks. The event brought various agencies and charities together, enabling military families and friends to get an idea of the support that is available to them while still serving or when they have left.

We were able to highlight to the wider military community the facilities available at the lodge at a price that can not be matched by any similar offerings in the Aviemore area. We are hoping that all the attendees at the event will join us at the lodge sooner or later.

Satisfied customer

The lodge received the letter below from our first user of the 'The Royal British Legion Suite,' our specially adapter suit for those with greater than normal needs. It is so nice to hear feedback from those who use our facilities, so that we can keep improving. Thank you Elizabeth for your kind words.

Dear Chris,

You have just GOT to tell Mum and dad that I have this AM had simply the best, safest shower I have ever had away from home. I always take a suction ring grip to hold onto and a rubber mat for the shower floor. But still I have difficultly with getting in & out especially out as I feel I am stepping into the abyss – my balance!

I just sat on the shower seat and wept this morning. I washed my hair without one hand holding on to the rail. What a joy it has given me. Thank you so much for allowing me to use this facility  I “lurve” it.

The room is beautifully arranged  just need a small wardrobe.

Please thank them for the bottle of "drinkies" it is much appreciated.

Thank you Chris for passing this on.

Love

Elizabeth

Moving on....

Sgt M Williams-Thomas said farewell and relinquished his duties on the Rothiemurchus lodge committee, as he moves onto a new post. He will be greatly missed by all. Not only was he heavily involved with the Rothiemurchus lodge committee, he was a driving force behind the yearly Rothiemurchus Challenge, an event that takes place in the autumn.  We all hope Merv well in his new position.

As a parting gift Merv presented George, the lodge manager with a glass Rothiemurchus Challenge trophy. We look forward to Sgt R Gorman taking over on the committee as the Royal Navy repersentive.
